Learning Goals
1) Review the essential methods of Geological Engineering practice, including site characterization, field work, laboratory testing, various types of analysis, hazard and risk assessment and professional issues such as loss control and professional ethics.
2) Describe examples of true life engineering geological problems and discuss solutions.
3) Explain the limitations of “textbook approaches” to geological engineering problems.
4) Use the professional literature and understand the need for lifelong learning.
5) Use appropriate software models.
6) Be able to keep good records and produce written and oral professional communication.
7) Be prepared for the transition from the university environment to practical work.
