This file specifies the electrode positions for the survey and is used only in forward modelling program DCIPF2D. The formats of this file are identical to those used in obs.dat file, except that the data (VALi) and error (ERRi) columns are removed. Both standard and common-current formats can be used. The output data file produced by DCIPF2D will be in the same format as the input potgrid.dat file.

The following two examples illustrate the potgrid.dat file in two formats and contain the electrode geometry for the example data file shown for obs.dat.
