Research Scientist, Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO), University of Washington

A leader in the environmental sciences, the Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO) is a Cooperative Institute between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Washington that fosters collaborative research on a broad range of global and regional topics of concern and interest to the public. JISAO has an outstanding opportunity for a full- time University Research Scientist/Engineer 2 working in the EcoFOCI group at the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) at Sand Point in Seattle.

Executive Director of the Institute, Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI)

The current Executive Director of the Inter-American for Global Change Research (IAI) will step down at the end of his term in 2017, and the IAI is searching for a new Director who will bring policy experience, management skills and an understanding of Global Change science to the position.

Writing Across the Curriculum Program Workshop: Providing Effective Feedback on Writing Assignments

Date: Thursday, September 15

Time: 9:30am-12:00pm

This two and a half-hour workshop introduces feedback strategies that focus on using educator time effectively and encouraging students to both use feedback and take responsibility for the quality of their science writing. The workshop benefits both new and experienced educators by providing participants the opportunity to reflect on their current feedback strategies and to practice some strategies with peers.

Note about the IRES Seminar Series

For the 2016-2017 Winter Session, the IRES Seminar Series will be held every Thursday in the AERL Theatre.  From 12:30pm to 1:30pm.    The IRES Seminar Series showcases the research of our graduate students, faculty and guests.  There are also monthly professional development seminars.    Pizza will be served at 12pm on the 4th floor of AERL. There will be a limit of one slice per person to ensure all attendees have pizza.
