2021 Science Communication Internship Opportunity - Schmidt Ocean Institute

Schmidt Ocean Institute is seeking applicants for the 2021 Science Communications Internship.

The Science Communications Internship aims to provide educational and practical support to graduate students studying marine science, communications, journalism, or a related field. Interns will work with our Communications team supporting outreach programs, with the goal of engaging, influencing, and generating public support for a healthy ocean through advanced scientific research, technology innovation, and open sharing of information. The intern will assist with a variety of strategic communications tasks and initiatives, contributing content to Schmidt Ocean Institute’s digital channels and interactive programs. Applicants must be eligible to work in the US.

Contract Instructor for EAES 1240 - Douglas College

The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences is seeking a contract instructor for the Fall 2021 semester to teach EAES 1240 – Ocean Environment. The course will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:30 – 18:20 in-person at their New West Campus.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • MSc. in the Geological Sciences or equivalent degree in science, environmental science, or applied science;
  • Teaching experience at college or university level;
  • Interest in geological science and environmental science;
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and to contribute positively to the college community.

Applicants will be considered for this position based upon their experience, qualifications and availability. Applicants must be capable and willing to work in the lecture room, laboratory, and rugged outdoor geologic field school environment.
