Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Igneous Petrology - Memorial University

The Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the field of igneous petrology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. They seek candidates with research expertise on the processes, accumulation rates, timing, and origin of igneous rocks - and their broader geological settings. A candidate would have strengths in one or more of the following areas: radiogenic and/or stable isotopic tracer studies; high precision lithogeochemistry; geochronology; and mineral scale chemical and isotopic studies of igneous rocks, their minerals, melt inclusions, and glasses. The candidate should have expertise in analytical methods appropriate to their proposed research program, be a potential contributor and collaborative user of existing analytical instrumentation, and be willing to participate in the growth, development and rejuvenation of analytical infrastructure in the department (e.g., laser ablation ICPMS/MC-ICP-MS, TIMS, SIMS). Candidates would be expected to deliver high-quality instruction of igneous petrology and allied courses at both introductory and advanced levels. Early career researchers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications should be received by October 1st, 2020. Candidates should submit a letter of application with the names and contact information (including email) of at least three referees, current curriculum vitae, and statements of planned research program and teaching interests to: Dr. Gregory Dunning, Head, Department of Earth Sciences, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, NL, A1B 3X5, Canada, or, preferably, email applications in PDF format to: .
