Research Scientist Positions - Environment and Climate Change Canada

ECCC is looking to fill several Research Scientist positions at the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis (CCCma), through a 4-stream pool process:

Research Scientist Position in Arctic Physical Oceanography - Institute of Ocean Sciences

We are seeking applications for a Research Scientist position specializing in Arctic Physical Oceanography. Position is located at the Institute of Ocean Sciences (Sidney, BC) and will be within the State of the Ocean section (Ocean Sciences Division).

Position in Environmental Geophysics - University of Manitoba

Assistant Professor - Position number 33650

The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a Probationary (Tenure-track) position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning as early as January 1, 2024 in the general area of Environmental Geophysics. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities :

The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in geophysics and establish an internationally recognized, externally funded research program. Additional teaching may include courses in applied geophysics, data analysis and field school. Other duties include student mentorship and supervision, and professional service for the department, the University, and the community.

Qualifications :

We seek candidates in any area of geophysics whose work has an environmental aspect (e.g., in areas including but not limited to hydrogeophysics, archeogeophysics, and agricultural geophysics). The Department offers programs in Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Geoscience and we particularly invite candidates who can teach in any of these disciplines and complement the existing research programs in the Department. Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. in geophysics, preferably with postdoctoral experience and a proven record of excellence in research and teaching.

The Department of Earth Sciences, housed on the banks of the Red River, provides an exciting environment for teaching and research. The Department is home to 11 tenured and tenure-track faculty members in the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources, and offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in Geology, Environmental Geoscience and Geophysics. It has a well-established national and international research reputation with strengths in mineralogy, geochemistry, sedimentology, palaeontology, geophysics, and environmental geosciences. The department and Material Institute of Manitoba have over $10 million of equipment housed in major, multi-user laboratories.
