Junior Geologist, Seasonal Position - CMC Metals Ltd.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity to join exciting projects in Yukon and British Columbia and to be a part of a team that makes significant discoveries. Most of the work will be involved with our flagship Silver Hart Project in Yukon but you will likely also get exposure to our projects in British Columbia.

CMC Metals Ltd. (“CMC”) is a growth stage exploration company focused on opportunities for high grade polymetallic deposits in Yukon, British Columbia and Newfoundland. Our polymetallic silver-lead-zinc CRD prospects include the Silver Hart Deposit and Blue Heaven claims (the “Silver Hart Project”) and Rancheria South, Amy and Silverknife claims (the “Rancheria South Project”). Our polymetallic projects with potential for copper-silver-gold and other metals include Logjam (Yukon), Bridal Veil, Terra Nova,  and Rodney Pond, all of which are in Newfoundland. This position is currently offered as a seasonal position preferably targeted towards an undergraduate student in third of fourth year of Earth Sciences program with the opportunity to become hired in a full time position at graduation.

POSITION  DESCRIPTION

The position will require the Junior Geologist to be at our project sites for most of their time and an ability to work in remote locations. The Company will provide all transportation, board and lodging. A valid drivers licence will be required. Rotation schedule is up for discussion. You must be comfortable working without direct field supervision, though support and training will be provided as needed.

  • You have excellent technical skills and have some knowledge of exploration practices
  • You have direct experience related to exploration and will be expected to oversee exploration drilling operations such as coordinating drill pad and trail preparation, spotting and stopping holes, and rig moves
  • You are a well-rounded candidate with good organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • You are a critical thinker who expects the ability to evaluate and resolve complex problems
  • A commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word and excel and preferably experience in using navigational instruments
  • Experience in core logging, photographing and sampling drill core is an asset
  • Complete data compilation to support ongoing exploration activities

CMC is willing to train and mentor candidates who are highly motivated to learn but who have minimal experience. You should be in good physical condition and be able to lift heavy core boxes and/or other items, as required. You will report to the Company’s Exploration Manager.
