Ph.D. Opportunity – Influence of Fault Characteristics on Slip and Induced Seismicity Magnitudes
A Ph.D. position in Geological Engineering is available at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, to conduct research into fault slip and induced seismicity related to hydraulic fracturing operations. The student will have the opportunity to conduct both experimental and numerical research as part of a larger university-industry collaborative project. Preferred candidates should have a M.A.Sc. (or equivalent) in Rock Mechanics or Applied Geology. Previous experience in industry or with research related to shale gas development will be seen as an asset.
