MIN3P Verification Example: Biodegradation of toluene (comparison of MIN3P to PHAST)

This example describes an initially uncontaminated aerobic aquifer that is infiltrated by groundwater contaminated with toluene (C7H8).  The aerobic biodegradation of toluene by oxygen is described as a kinetically controlled reaction using a Dual Monod rate expression.  Simulation results for total concentrations of carbonate, concentrations of toluene and oxygen, and the rate of toluene oxidation in the dispersive mixing zone, are shown for MIN3P and PHAST in Figure 1.
