The goal of this time domain electromagnetic survey was to help define the thickness of a relatively conductive saprolitic overburden layer. 5000 soundings were acquired in total. During the survey, data were transmitted by satellite to Placer Dome in Vancouver, British Columbia. Results were then inspected, inverted, and interpreted quickly so that the field crew could be informed of data quality, and survey specifications could be modified as required. This allowed the crew to be used opitmally in the field, and gave the company paying for the survey (Placer Dome) confidence that the data was of use as the survey was ongoing.
