TEM at Las Cristinas
Survey

The TEM survey at Las Cristinas was carried out using a Geonics Protem 47 transmitter, an 8-turn 5 by 5 metre square loop source antenna, and a high frequency coil receiving antenna. Data were recorded 20 metres from the source loop, and the station interval was 25 metres. The ramp time for the transmitter was 10 microseconds and 20 time channels of data were recorded. Instrumentation details can be read from the Geonics Ltd. website.

Raw data are normally presented initially as a log-log plot of signal strength versus time, showing the decay characteristics of secondary fields that were induced in conductive materials by the primary source signal. The figure to the right is an example of this type of presentation, including error bars assigned to each datum. In order to plot the data gathered along a line, decay curves at each survey location are plotted as a coloured bar with stronger signal strengths represented by warmer colours. Then survey results along a line are presented as a section of these colour bars. The figure below illustrates raw data obtained along one of the lines at Las Cristinas.
