Teaching thoughts

In my teaching (and learning) I focus on developing the ability to reason through a question to a solution and to trust in your judgement. I spend much of my time in the outdoors and experience the unique setting it provides as a classroom (especially with the Varsity Outdoor Club) and as a place to learn lessons through intense discussions about route choices and safety. Most of all, it is a place where we can gain confidence in our ability to make choices, assess situations, and become aware of the extents of our own knowledge by testing it in a variety of scenarios and with a variety of people. I want to create an environment in the classroom where students collaborate, discuss, become aware of the extent of their knowledge, and grow confident in making decisions based on that knowledge.
