• describe two different types of horizontal grid or mesh arrangements used in modern NWP models.
• compare the features and capabilities of the mpas model vs. WRF
• compare the features and capabilities of the FV3 model vs. WRF

Readings BEFORE class:

1. Read the Finite Volume slides by Tim Chui.
2. For mpas, read the MPAS Mesh  and MPAS Numerics, Dynamics, and Research slides by Tim Chui.
3. For FV3, read the FV3 slides by Tim Chui.
