The Outer Space Institute (OSI) is interested in sponsoring an application from a recent or near-complete PhD student to Canada's prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program. This program is global in scope and extremely competitive, including in the initial phase which is internal to the University of British Columbia. Only one application will be sponsored by the OSI.
Prospective applicants must have a demonstrated ability to engage in high-level transdisciplinary research on issues in near-Earth space. For more information on the OSI and its current projects, please see the Documents and Press page of the OSI website.
For information on the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program, see this page.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to send a letter of introduction, a detailed CV, a list of academic presentations and publications, and the names and contact details of two referees to Andrew Falle, the Research Coordinator of the Outer Space Institute, at: andrew.falle@ubc.ca
At this stage (which has a closing date of May 13, 2021), the submitted materials do not need to adhere to the format requirements listed on the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program. Any application supported by the OSI would still need to compete in the UBC internal competition.
The OSI values diversity. As such, we encourage and value applications from persons with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC), persons with disabilities, and others who contribute to the further diversification of ideas, perspectives and ways of knowing.
