Part-Time Sessional Lecturer - EOSC 315 - The Ocean Ecosystem - Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences - The University of British Columbia

Applications are invited to teach one section of EOSC 315 during the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will teach in Term 1.

EOSC 315 focuses on introduction to life in the oceans, its variety and evolution; primary producers and their links to the environment, zooplankton, marine communities, living marine resources and their role in today's world.

Responsibilities of the lecturer include: preparation of handout information and a lecture outline for the entire course; preparation and presentation of lectures with suitable visual aids; handling all student issues including grades, special needs, and make-up exams; preparation, invigilation and marking or exams required for the course; and supervision of the teaching assistants.

Applicants must hold a M.Sc. or a Ph.D. (or be enrolled in a Ph.D. program) in a related field and have a demonstrated interest in teaching at the undergraduate level.  Previous online course experience, teaching experience and/or instructional training are desired. UBC Ph.D. students without an M.Sc. must have passed their candidacy examination in order to apply; students currently enrolled in a M.Sc. program are not eligible.

Please provide a curriculum vita, applicants who have not previously lectured in the EOAS Department should also provide a one-page statement describing your scientific background and qualifications for teaching, and the names and contact details of two referees.
