The annual ECCC recruitment campaign for future meteorologists at the MT-01 level has been launched and will close on January 19, 2026.
Please note this new campaign is exclusively to assess candidates for hiring at the MT-01 level for the next MOIP course: Meteorologist Occupational Training Program. The application paperwork is long and time consuming, so don't wait to start your application.
Key points:
As with most Government of Canada hiring processes, the area of selection for these processes is restricted to individuals who have a legal right to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, Canadian permanent residents, and those with a Canadian work permit). Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will not be assessed as part of these processes.
Please encourage applicants to carefully read the educational requirements listed, as not meeting these will result in being screened out of the process.
Additionally, if you know of prospective students interested in studying atmospheric science or meteorology, please encourage them to apply to our bursary program: Meteorology Awards. Applications must be submitted between January 6 and February 19, 2026 to be considered for bursaries being awarded in fall 2026.
Please direct all questions about meteorologist recruitment at the MSC to recmt01@ec.gc.ca.
The Meteorology Awards scholarship program, with funding from Environment and Climate Change Canada, has now re-launched this year. Students at or entering UBC who are interested in studying atmospheric science will be able to submit their applications from January 6 until February 19, 2026. The award categories remain the same as last year. As a reminder, there are 3 categories of awards, targeting students at UBC who are either enrolled in/enrolling in a BSc program, a BSc Major or Honours in Atmospheric Science program, or the Diploma in Meteorology program. It is those students we’d like to make sure are aware of the availability of the program and funding.
