Multiple Career Opportunities

CLEX Research Associate in Marine Heatwaves. The position of Research Associate (Marine Heatwaves) aims to better understand the processes governing climate extremes. In particular, this position aims to contribute research to the Heatwaves Program, with a project thematic focus of understanding marine heatwave (MHW) generating processes to improve prediction. The Research Associate will be employed by the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania (UTAS). For further information, contact Professor Neil Holbrook, Oceans and Cryosphere, IMAS: Neil.Holbrook@utas.edu.au | +61 3 6226 2027.To apply, visit this pageApplications close Monday, March 26, 2018.

Twelve positions – five PhD, four post docs and three computer scientist roles – are going across a consortium of five Belgian universities to work in the framework of the PARAMOUR project (Decadal Predictability and vAriability of polar climate: the Role of AtMosphere- Ocean-cryosphere mUltiscale inteRactions) funded by the program EOS –The excellence of Science. PARAMOUR aims at revealing fundamental drivers of climate variability and assessing climate predictability in high latitudes by using coupled regional climate models in both hemispheres. A description of the positions is available on the project website http://www.climate.be/php/users/klein/PARAMOUR/open_positions.html.

Post doc, University of NSW: Improving projections of ocean heat content increase and the associated global and regional sea level change.  The successful candidate will work with Prof John Church on the detection and attribution of changes in ocean temperatures and salinity using historical observations and the latest generation of global coupled atmosphere ocean climate models. The analysis will aim to quantify the underlying mechanisms controlling the distribution of ocean temperature and salinity change. Full details and application form here
Application deadline: March 25.

Tenure Track position: Scientific computing with applications in Climate Sciences at Department of Mathematics, Stockholm University, Sweden. Deadline for applications April 3, 2018. For more information on the position and how to apply, visit this page.

NOAA Climate and Global Change - Postdoctoral Fellowships. The Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS) announces the 2018 recruitment for NOAA Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellowships (C&GC). The selection criteria used by the steering committee in making the awards is available here. For additional information on this program and instructions on how to apply, please visit: How Postdocs Apply. Postdoc position in Physical Oceanography / Ocean Observing, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami. Applications are invited from candidates with a recent PhD in physical oceanography or similar. Experience in collection and analysis of observed datasets is desirable. The successful candidate will study in situ volume, heat, and salt transports in the context of other measurements and models, and will participate in a scientific cruise off South Africa. This project is part of a US-South African collaboration to develop sustained observations of the Agulhas Current as part of the Global Ocean Observing System.
