PCIGR Project Manager Diane Hanano is currently in the Indian Ocean
Diane is aboard the JOIDES Resolution, a scientific drilling ship operating for the International Ocean Discovery Program. The 2-month long expedition (IODP 354) is drilling a transect of sites across the middle Bengal Fan to investigate the interactions among the growth of the Himalaya and Tibet, the development of the Asian monsoon, and processes affecting the carbon cycle and global climate. Diane is responsible for communicating the onboard science to students, educators, researchers and other audiences around the world via multiple social media platforms and live video broadcasts with schools and museums.
