Susan retired from an active teaching role at UBC effective July 2023.  She has been a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Geoscientist in BC since 1989/1993 respectively.  Her former teaching responsibilities in the Geological Engineering Program included:

  • development and delivery of EOSC 445, a capstone design course which gives fourth-year undergraduate students the opportunity to work in small groups on geological engineering design projects drawn from industry, with a local industry professional as Project Sponsor;
  • development and delivery of EOSC 240, a course in site investigation for second-year geological engineering students; and
  • co-delivery (with Dr. Erik Eberhardt) of EOSC 210, Earth Science for Engineers, a required course for all second-year civil, mining, environmental and geological engineering students.

Susan is always happy to hear from her former EOSC 445 students looking for academic references for graduate school applications.
