Jessie Tse-Hua Chao

PhD

graduate

Jessie is a Ph.D. candidate in the Hydrogeology group at UBC and a member of Energy and Environmental Research Initiative (EERI), a multi-disciplinary research program of combined expertise. Her research investigates the migration and fate of fugitive natural gas in shallow aquifers, associated with oil and gas development. She is responsible for planning, setting up and characterizing a research field station in Hudson's Hope area in northeastern BC, where controlled-release experiment was conducted. Jessie specializes in site characterization, aqueous geochemistry, and data analysis, such as sonic/rotary drilling, cone penetrometer testing, hydraulic testing, aqueous chemistry, gas isotopes, and pore water pressure responses to monitor and characterize physical movement of fugitive gas and associated impacts on groundwater quality.
