3 Year Replacement Professor Position - University of Ottawa

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Ottawa invites applications to fill one replacement professor position, to begin as early as July 1, 2022 and no later than September 1, 2022.

Title of the position: Replacement Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: teaching activities (five courses per year) and academic service activities

Terms: One non-renewable, 3-year contract

Wage: Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $88,735

Skills requirements:

  • Education: PhD or equivalent in Geology, Geological Sciences or Earth Sciences
  • Work experience: Excellent candidates in mineralogy, petrology, petrography, and geochemistry are encouraged to apply. We are seeking candidates with enthusiasm to teach at an undergraduate level. Previous experience or training in teaching in an academic setting is considered an asset. The candidate will be expected to deliver courses in both official languages at the time of employment. Research experience in academia and/or industry experience will be an asset. Experience in supervising (under)graduate students will be an asset.

PhD position - "Reconstruction of freshwater discharge and ocean dynamics using tropical corals" - Heidelberg University

The Institute of Environmental Physics at Heidelberg University invites applications for a PhD position (three years, starting from 1.6.2022). The position is placed within the “Physics of Environmental Archives” group of Prof. Norbert Frank and Dr. Sophie Warken. The project entitled “Quantifying post Little-Ice-Age freshwater discharge and ocean dynamics in the Central American Sea using a novel tracer combination: δ234U – (P)SST – 14C” is part of the externally funded DFG Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability and Coral Reefs" (SPP 2299).
