The School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in teaching Quaternary Geology during the Fall 2022 academic term.

EOS 450 (Fall 2022): Quaternary Geology (1.5 units): The methods and theory of Quaternary research, stressing the processes of interaction between the geosphere and biosphere. Topics include dating methods, paleoenvironmental studies, glaciation and global change, geological hazards, interdisciplinary research, and applied studies particularly the influence for engineering design.

Prerequisites: EOS201 - Sedimentary Geology (1.5) and EOS240 - Geochemistry (1.5)

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30pm – 6:50pm, September to December 2022. Based on instructor availability, there is an opportunity for this course to be delivered online.

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Environmental Geoscience - University of Brunswick

Closing Date: Review of applications will begin August 31, 2022 and continue until a suitable candidate is found.

The University of New Brunswick, Department of Earth Sciences, invites applications for a continuing (tenure-track) position at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department seeks to bolster its strength in environmental geoscience by hiring an outstanding candidate involved in the study of Quaternary or modern geological environments with applications in water resources, climate change, geotechnics, renewable energy or natural hazards. Disciplines of interest include surficial geology, geohydrology, glaciology, and remote sensing - all relevant to the measurement or modelling of geologicallymediated processes occurring in the Critical Zone where rock, soil, water, atmosphere, and ecosystems interact.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, in the classroom, lab and field, in our Earth Science, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science and Geological Engineering Programs. They will be expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and to engage with their colleagues in departmental initiatives/service.

Required qualifications include a PhD, clear potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a strong record or emerging strength in research and publications. Eligibilities for professional licensure in geoscience and in engineering would be assets for our professional programs.

Interested candidates can learn more about the department, its programs and facilities at here. Information on salary and benefits can be found here.

Review of applications will begin August 31, 2022 and continue until a suitable candidate is found. A cover letter, CV, statement of teaching and research interests, and the names of three referees should be sent to:
